The correct answer is middle ages

This wasn't the comedy of the ancient style but was a type of comedy where situations were highly exaggerated and highly improbable. They also often included a lot of physical humor and had elements of absurdity because they were so over the top and the people enjoyed this and found it to be highly comedic.
