I think by they are one they are able to do this, we are very intelligent even as babies who are barely able to walk, for example we are born with the ability to recognize our mothers voice and scent and have a natural inclination to be aware if our mothers are not holding us. We are also born with the ability to grasp onto things with our hands the minute we are born. I believe by the age of one, children can pretend something has happened.
