The significant intermarriage of the conquistadores with the Indian women meant that this was the beginning of the development of mestizos or mixed people of both Spanish and Indian origin and these people make up a large proportion of the population of Latin America, from 26-90% of the populations of the Latin American countries with the maximum mestizo population being at least in Honduras at 90%.
