in a mitosis ready cell, why are the 2 chromatids of each chromosomes genetically identical?

Each chromosome now consists of two sister chromatids. G2 phase. The cell checks the duplicated chromosomes and gets ready to divide.  Mitosis is used to produce daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cells.
