In the Magician's Nephew both Uncle Adrew and Queen Jadius strove for power. Andrew wanted to use magic to make himself more powerful testing his inventions on his nephew. Jadius already had that power but her world was dying so she sought to take over others. They also hated the song that Aslan sung when he created the world of Narnia and were afraid of him.
