why did Paul Revere misrepresent what happened during the Boston Massacre

To create propaganda for the 13 colonies and also to portray the British as the ones at fault when in reality it was both British and the colonists that were protesting. Also, the Boston "Massacre" wasn't a massacre at all. A massacre is when a large group of people are murdered, but only 5 were killed in the Boston Massacre. Hope this helps :D
