To answer this question you need to find the value of a and B, which you can do by finding the roots of x² - 3x + 2 = 0. You can do this by factoring the equation to get (x - 2)(x - 1) = 0, and so x = 2 or x = 1.

Then, we just need to square 2 and 1, and add them, giving us 4 + 1 = 5.
