I think the effect of single burned out bulb on the string of lights if each light is attached to its own wire is that there will be no change in the brightness of the other lights. This is an example of a parallel circuit. In a parallel circuit, the elements have the same amount of voltage, but share the same current, therefore if one bulb for example is affected, then there will be no effect on the other bulbs.
